about

After finishing my songwriting master's in Bath, I moved to London, as that seemed like the place to be for the music industry. It didn't work out for me, although it certainly was an experience!

lyrics

What’s it like to live in London?
You ask me, with a glimmer in your eye
You think of double decker buses and red telephone boxes
The palace and the change of the guard
Benedict Cumberbatch on Baker Street
When you’re a tourist
That’s all there is to it
But when you live there

Water’s leaking from the ceiling
The boiler’s broken, the shower’s cold
And it’s wintertime, we have no heating
I lie in bed under a pile of blankets

The fire alarm keeps blaring
And no-one bats an eye
The landlord takes 650 a room
But don’t tell HMRC

It’s London, London living
London, London living
I live the dream
Here on the 17th floor of a council block

To pay the bills I work full time
I stare at a screen, I’m not playing guitar
And in rush hour I go to my gig
I'm on the tube
Can you please give me some space?!

I came around to make it here
And so did everybody else
Promoters invite your band to play for free
But bring all your friends
It’s good exposure

It’s London, London living
London, London living
I live the dream
We're oh so Bohemian here in London Town

It’s London, London living
London, London living
I live the dream
We're oh so Bohemian here in London

It’s London London living
London London living
I've lived the dream
I've seen enough!
I’m gonna leave this town behind
… and Bristol looks quite nice
